Kevin Buettner, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering, was one of the top three poster presenters at the Particle Technology Forum at AIChE 2017. This is the second year in a row that he has won the $500 award.
His poster titled, “Non-spherical Model Evaluation through Two-fluid Simulations of Fluidized Beds” is a collaborative project between Jennifer Sinclair Curtis, Ph.D., at the University of California, Davis, and Haim Kalman, Ph.D., of Ben-Gurion University of the Negrev in Israel.
Buettner’s research utilizes experimental measurements taken during his time in professor Kalman’s lab to assess the modeling work that professor Curtis’ lab is doing to improve the current simulation techniques for granular flows. His research was made possible by the BARD Graduate Student Fellowship.
