Activities
Beyond the research experience in the laboratory, the students in our REU will have both social activities and programs to enhance skills important to succeed in graduate school or industry.
- Kick-off meeting at the University of Florida (end of first week)
- Two-day workshop to introduce computational material science
- Workshop includes short hands-on courses to introduce various simulation methods
- Barbecue, games, and/or water sports at UF's recreational facility at Lake Wauburg
- Attend workshops throughout the REU for student development and communication skills
- Weekly lab tours of various experimental groups
- Day trip to Ichetucknee Springs State Park at the midpoint of the REU
- Social activities with other REU at the universities
- Attend and give presentations at the FSMS annual meeting (see details of past FSMS meetings)
