Activities
Beyond the research experience in the laboratory, the students in our REU participate in both social activities and programs to enhance skills important to succeed in graduate school or industry.
- Kick-off meeting at the University of Florida (end of first week)
- Two-day workshop to introduce computational material science
- Workshop includes short hands-on courses to introduce various simulation methods
- Barbecue, games, and/or water sports at UF's recreational facility at Lake Wauburg
- Workshops on professional development and communication skills
- Lab tours of various experimental groups
- Social activities with other REU at the universities
- Attend and give presentations at the FSMS annual meeting (see details of past FSMS meetings)
