Jerauld L. (Jerry) Dickerson, P.E.
Jerry
is a 1967 graduate of the University of Florida with a BSChE degree. He
participated in the cooperative work study program with Monsanto from
1964 through 1966. He received an MBA in 1977 and completed course work for an
MA in Economics in 1977. Jerry is a registered Professional Engineer in Florida
and Pennsylvania. Using his experiences and education he currently consults with
businesses and organizations to develop people.
Jerry worked for Monsanto in several locations in process design, process
control, manufacturing supervision, engineering management, environmental
control, maintenance engineering management, technology management, laboratory
operations management and Total Quality oversight, research and development,
government affairs, and corporate project leadership. In 1997 Monsanto spun off
the Chemicals Division as Solutia. He retired from Solutia in 2001 after
completing the startup of a key project to hydrogenate phenol to the ketone and
alcohol using former East German technology. He had international experience in
Brazil encompassing many of Monsanto's products and the Nutrasweet product in
'89 and '90. He also worked extensively in the global technology, engineering,
and business areas. He is the co-author of six patents on carpet recycle.
Concurrently Jerry had a twenty-four career in the Naval Reserve as a Civil
Engineer Corps officer, retiring at the rank of Captain in 1992. He served in
Vietnam in '68-'69 and had many enjoyable assignments with the Navy Seabees,
Public Works, Staff Civil Engineer, and Contract Administration. He was assigned
as Commanding Officer of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion in '88 -'89. The
Battalion was selected as Best of Type in 1989 among the seventeen reserve
battalions nationally. In 1990 they were activated for the Gulf War.
He is married to the former Carolyn Martin of Wayzata, MN (U of MN, RN).
They have four children - Anne (FSU), Patrick (UF-BSChE), Susan (FSU) and Tim
(UF, MS State, and UF College of Veterinary Medicine). Jerry and Carolyn
currently live in Pensacola.
