Homework Assignments

• Problem Set 1 Due Sept 8th:  Please solve problems Ch 2 # 8, 10. 12, 26, 32 and 82.  Problems 10, 32 and 82 to correspond to 6th Ed problems 9, 32 and 98.  The other 3 are not found in the 6th.   Problem Set 1 and Figures. The Solutions are now available. 
• Problem Set 2 Due Sept 22:  From 5th Ed, please solve Ch 6 # 75, 81, 83, 84 and 95.  6th Ed problems are 85, 93, 95, 96 and 106. The solutions are now available. 
• Problem Set 3 Due Oct 4:  From 5th Ed, please solve Ch 3 # 1, 16, 18, 29, 45 and 75.For 6th Ed, the problems not found in the 5th Ed are 3.16 and 3.45.  The solutions (and 75_Soln) are now available.
• Problem Set 4 Due Oct 13:  Please solve 5th Ed problems:  Ch 6 # 18, 19, 31, 40, 49 and 59.  6th Ed problems are 21, 22, 37, 45 and 56 (6.59 of the 5th is not found in the 6th).  The Solutions are now available.
• Problem Set 5 Due Nov 1:  Please solve 5th Ed problems: Ch 9 # 20, 21, 23, 46, 51, 61 and 75.  6th Ed problems are 25, {21 not found}, 28, {46, 51 not found}, 71 and 83.  (Missing Problems) The Solutions are now available.
• Problem Set 6 Due Nov 15:  Please solve 5th Ed problems Ch 5 # 4, 7, 19, 20, 28, 37, 49, 89, 94 and 107.  6th Ed user problems.  The Solutions are now available.
• Problem Set 7 Due Dec 1:  Please solve 5th Ed problems Ch 8 # 21, 26, 36, 39, 46, 65, 100, 102 and 108.  6th Ed user please solve Ch 8 # x, 35, 48, 50, 61, x, 110, 112 and 120.  The x problems not found in the 6th are here.  The Solutions are now available.
• Problem Set 8 Due Dec 8: Please solve 5th Ed problems Ch 12 # 13, 15, 21 and 26.  6th Ed user please solve Ch 12 # 23, 25, 33 and 38.    Solutions are now available.

Notes on Homework and Quizzes

• Our assignments are given from Munson's "Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics," the 5th Edition.
• Not all assigned problems in the 5th Edition text are found in the 6th Ed.   We will list the 6th Ed problems that match and post a description of the problems that don't. 
• HW is not graded, but you will be quizzed.
• Because there is no grade for HW assignments, you will have access to the solutions whenever a new assignment is posted.  We strongly recommend that you make effort to solve the problems on your own before viewing the solutions.  Understand the concepts and principles and get a better quiz score.
• Please be prepared for a quiz on the due date of a homework assignment.  You will be responsible for understanding the concepts of the current and all prior hw assignments when you take the quiz.
• Some quizzes will require a book and calculator.  Please be prepared.

Quiz Etiquette

• Please remove all items from your workspace except blank paper, a pencil and, if applicable, a calculator and text book (quizzes are never open notes).  No backpacks, notebooks, food or drink are allowed the desk during the quiz.
• Please stop working on the quiz when time is called.  You may finish your statement or write a brief note that you ran out of time.  But please note:  It is your responsibility to make sure that your quiz gets collected for grading. 
• If you hold or continue to work on your quiz after the professor or TA pass by to collect from your row, they will not accept your quiz later.
• Absolutely NO TALKING is allowed until all quizzes are collected.  If you talk with others while you still have your quiz, you will be given a zero.
• Always bear in mind the Standard for Ethical Conduct as established by the Office for Student Judicial Affairs.
