Discontinuities in Chemical Engineering Education

Stephen Whitaker

The general problem of discontinuities in chemical engineering education is considered in terms of three examples that are identified as 1) The mechanical discontinuity, 2) the thermodynamic discontinuity, and 3) the multiphase discontinuity.  These discontinuities are first identified in their natural setting and then methods of avoiding them are described.
